CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS DIVISION
The Criminal Investigations Division is charged with the responsibility of investigating crimes, which have been reported as having occurred within the City of Bay St. Louis. The unit also focuses on felony crimes, but also investigates reported misdemeanor crimes. The Narcotics Unit focuses on all narcotics violations that occur within the City of Bay St. Louis and works jointly to assist and investigate narcotics cases which occur within Hancock County.
Detectives with the Bay St. Louis Police Department have all completed the state mandated curriculum or Basic Law Enforcement Certification and have worked in the Uniform Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer prior to being assigned to the Investigations Division. The Investigations Division consists of seven full-time Detectives who are assigned to three areas of specialized investigative fields. The Investigations Division is broken down into Criminal Investigations, Narcotics Investigations and Multi-Jurisdictional Narcotics Task Force.
All Detectives within the Narcotics Units are sent through specialized training, which exceeds the state training requirement in the handling, collection and processing of hazardous waste.
